Place cardboard behind the exhaust pipes so you don't accidentally damage the loco when you use your best hacksaw to cut off the pinched pipe tops (both of them)

The pipes cut down ready for filing smooth.

Take your time with this bit.......

Push the chuff pipe down onto the pipes til they reach the internal shoulder and they are a snug fit.

Re-fit the smokebox assembly by lifting over the chuff pipe and down into place.
Refit three brass cheesehead screws.

Test and video............... I will post a video of Duncan in action a little later.

Excellent, a much neater job than I thought with Roundhouse and a nicely machined pipe too. Laughing

Most informative how-to, Paul thanks for sharing. Oh, and nice vid of the modified loco in action too.

I have a question though - how easy was it to refit the smokebox assembly after fitting the chuff-pipe? The added length of the pipe sort of suggested to me that there might have been a bit of a problem?

The smokebox assembly is lowered down over the chuff pipe and then pushed back to locate onto the front of the boiler.
It looks to be more of a problem than it really is. Smile
