My old friend Christian Wolmar has just produced his latest book - Blood Iron and Gold - with the modest subtitle "How the railways changed the world" Fitting the whole history of world railways into one book means leaving out a lot but if you want an overview of how the world we live in would not exist without railways - or to convince someone that an interest in railways is not some sort of fringe hobby - it is probably the best you'll ever get. Andrew Adonis (at the launch party last night) agreed. It's published by Atlantic Books and should be in shops next week.

Plug away Phil.

Can you post a link to it/Atlantic publishing if possible when it's out so we can see.

It's Atlantic Books (not Atlantic Publishing of Garden Rail fame): www.atlantic(hyphen)books.co.uk. It's already in shops in UK so should be on Amazon. Which reminds me that one of Christian's earlier books was on Stagecoach (the bus company that runs trains) which was listed by Amazon under "Westerns". Blood Iron and Gold could end up under "health" or ""mineral extraction" Rolling Eyes

Website here: http://www.atlantic-books.co.uk/

Can't see a reference to the new book though, even in the New Titles bit.
