My line is set on the edge of Romney Marsh in Kent. The marsh used to be under sea level and I live on what was an island a few hundred years ago. The basis is German narrow gauge, principally DR in flavour but with a few interlopers.
The track bed is lightweight building blocks (Celcons)

Some of the elevated sections are on decking boards set on posts.

The Mallet on the evening when the full circuit was completed. We ran well into the evening that day.

The track was ballasted with a horticultural grit from the garden centre

Looking good with all the vegetation, I have the problem that with a built up area of soil it is going to take quite a while to get the correct plants growing. Weeds no problem.

Hi

I'm in the process of putting some elevated track on boards on my layout - any tips ?

Thanks Brian

I like the way that train snakes round the scenery

Been a while since I was here. Must be time for an update.

The Spreewald is a great little loco - runs smooth as silk.
