It's snowing right now in Houston. This is the earliest recorded snowfall on record. It's coming down pretty fast, but not much accumulation yet. Maybe later- they say our temperature will be in the 20s (F).

It's all that global warming Bill! sunny

Wonder what will hit Tennessee after one of the wettest and coldest summers on record?

Nice looking neighborhood!

Is there any bread or milk left in the stores? There would not be here...

The grocery stores were busy yesterday morning before the snow hit, but not like anybody was stockpiling food. We save that behavior for any time there's a tropical storm or hurricane in the gulf. We lost electricity for 12 days after Hurricane Ike. Summertime in Houston without the A/C is pretty miserable. Luckily, I've got a couple of portable generators, but it was $50-$60 per day to fuel them.

We got down to 27 deg F last night, coldest on record for the date, but it's supposed to warm up into the 50s today, so what snow's left will be gone soon.

....And a jolly jolly christmas t-i-m-e. Laughing

I think I'd prefer the snow to this constant rain everyday for the last 4 weeks.

And to add misery the old house failed the scandalous drainage inspection so we have to reroute (at great expense) some of the guttering before Christmas!

Totally agree with you Carl! We've had just 1 day without rain in the last three weeks. The grass is still growing but i cant cut it. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms 'cos I cant get on with the railway. I suppose it could be worse. I could be packing ready to move house!!

While I have hated the downpours in TN this year, it did show me early in the railway what will and will not work!

Unfortunately, it got cold when they quit!

If you get fed up with the 'snow' falling I will turn it off.

We are waiting for the real stuff to fall now. The temperature has dropped dramatically here and 4 days before we move my wife has caught this blooming swine flu. scratch

Love the snow Carl - get well soon Madame Hibbs. Watch her Carl my mate lost a couple of stone over 3 weeks when he got the pig virus.

Re snow, yup all the surrounding hills/mountains have got it , had to put the heating on during day for the first time. Its 4.5C outside and falling steadily, it is also raining a lot.

Sorry to hear of all your problems Carl, it never rains but it pours’, BOOM BOOM. Still in between you fixing the guttering, you cooking the Christmas dinner, and moving. Have a good Christmas.
