I often see on ebay; Livres,BD, Revues, or figurines BD. what does the BD stand for? cheers

Bandes Dessinees (sorry can't get the accent on) - comic books, so figurines are comic book characters - out of fashion ones can go very cheap at brocantes; most are 1/24 or thereabouts and can be adapted...

BD.... I thought for a long time it was something sexual. Embarassed

As Phil said.

Bande Dessinée (bédé) often refers to comic (drawn), cartoon or animated. Personnage BD = cartoon character or comic (book) hero.

Dessiner = usually to draw or design graphically but it has many French synonyms.
Bande = strip (of something) or tape.

Actually - Carl might not be far wrong. Most of these comics are not for kids! The Musee de la Bande Dessinee is in Angouleme and some of the exhibits - artists' orginals, first editions and so on - are very explicit!
