Thanks for posting Laurent, some great clips.

The Shibanxi is a well known line for steam enthusiasts. I wish I could have visited it when I was in China.

Here's another good link of someone's adventures about the line.

These clips are great.
I'm not one for doing the 'watching the train go by' bit but these clips are a window into another world Very Happy
The scenery is fantastic.Trees, bushes and endless greenery.
I love the way that the railway is embedded in the day to day life of the people in the films. No platforms and everyone wanders around regardless of the dreaded health and safety police that blight (our) everyday life.
Battered, soot blackened, narrow gauge steam emmiting dragons Smile
A pleasure to watch.

Loved the guy riding his bike by the track side, pulling the trolley along on a bit of rope! Cool

Some great clips there.

A friend of mine has a set of semi-professional DVDs shot by a friend of his. They cover several Chinese steam lines around the late 90s and one scene on the Shibanxi is a little gem. It starts with a group of locals walking a sow along by the line. A train comes along and the sow starts to panic - and she's a big unit! The guys, 3 or 4 of them drag her into the bushes by the trackside and all pile on top of her to keep her still as the train goes by, then let her up squealing and bucking after it passes.

Later on the same sow apparently is filmed being loaded aboard a train. No ramps, no steps and a big fat pig. The guys are pushing and shoving and trying to lift her then one of them who maybe has her piglets just hurls them in through the freight car door like you'd toss a couple of snowballs and the sow instantly leaps up and follows her piglets in. Its a delightful scene and probably mirrors life on steam branch and secondary lines anywhere in the world 100 years ago,

True, especialy as the C2 and C4 0-8-0s have ties to European NG steam design.
