Evening all

I haven't really done much worth posting about lately, so it came as a bit of a change last week to be able to attend a G-Scale Society open day last weekend. Unfortunately the weather was nothing like as warm and sunny as it had been on other days or indeed in other parts of the country. Still, it was a well-attended day (the South-Western group covers Gloucestershire, Somerset and west Wiltshire, including a few waifs and strays from across the Severn Bridge!) and a very interesting line - entirely analogue, but with full block control, including working signals etc. Some interesting features too, including what appears to be a complete build of the PIKO brewery!

As you might expect I was able to take some photos - sadly, my failure to ensure the camera battery was fully charged meant that i didn't take as many as i wanted. Having said that, it was still an enjoyable afternoon. I spent some time chatting to a few of the attendees, including Mr David Buckingham who had brought an extensive and impressive album of photos of his superb hand-built models.

Anyway, here for your amusement are the least rubbish of the photos I took:

Thanks for posting the pictures Clive, I have met Mike Brown and his wife (G scale South West) on a few occasions at the Exeter Show, when the SW group extended down to Cornwall. It was nice to see some shots of his own railway,........ always carry some spar batteries.

Interesting railway. How big is it? I would like to see a plan of it....I like plans! Very Happy

Yes, the brewery is a nice feature and gives me thought to include a 'pressoir/cidrerie' here. drunken

Excellent ballasting too.

Yes it is indeed a private garden, that of the South Western Groups area organiser, Mike Brown.

I sent him another email this morning asking if he had a track plan to share with some other forum members, he has very kindly sent one but it's a pdf. I will try and convert it to a jpeg and post it here when i get a chance.

Well here it is:

I would say as an estimate the length of the garden at its longest point was about 20-25m, by about 12m wide
