I dont remember if this topic has appeared before on CGT but nevertheless the video below is amazing.

Makes you wonder how long before you design a live diesel and out it pops from the universal manufacturing device (3D Printer).

Watch out China.

Very interesting if the technology has moved on so far - I think the video is a bit misleading - the "scanning" part could not have allowed for seperate moving parts surely ?

Howsomever - a while back I put up a link for "reprap" which is an open scource project for a home made 3d printer - you can actually buy a kit !!!!!!! This works a bit like a printer having a hot glue gun in it, by moving the gun "head" around it leaves a trail of molten plastic which rapidly hardens. Rather a simple explanation but see this video for a good idea of what it is all about. Remember this does not involve 0000's of $/, and can be built at home from a kit - after you build you kit you can grow another one - no I am NOT joking. I might have tried if I had the skills with Cad - it really is that cheap.

We talked about this a while back but I can't find the thread... scratch

Just think what they'll be like in the future with further development. Shocked

These are obviously great tools for us and I could see whole armies of miniature cloned people being born in Portsmouth.
Blimey..... don't let Clive anywhere near your body with a scanner! silent
