If I go 'missing' for a while it maybe due internet problems...

Well sort my fault really after emptying most of a full glass of Cabernet Sauvignon directly on the Live Box.

Dried it all out with a hair dryer but it goes a bit wobbly and rests itself. drunken

Rinse it with distilled water. (Unplug the power first!)

Carl: you might like to try a trick we discovered when our LiveBox went out of order. Take an old analogue phone (assuming you didn't throw it away when your LiveBox was installed.). Plug it in to the old=style phone socket on the back of the ADSL adaptor. Leave analogue phone off the hook. LiveBox works - I cannot explain why this should be. In our case, the problem was a wiring fault between us and the distribution box (and if you look at the third world appearance of telephone wiring in rural France, you can see why: the wire from our house went to a bracket slowly parting company from next door's wall, via a bracket attached to an EDF pole, over the roof of a low outbuilding and into a box on FT's pole replete with wires trailing from it.) In the end France Telecom rewired from the house to the box in our hamlet, and then again from the hamlet to the village...

I don't know if the trick will fix a LiveBox with a hangover Rolling Eyes

I used to work for BT digital networks and was in at the start of the broadband revolution. DSL Technology has diversified and moved on greatly in those 9 or 10 years and I have very limited knowledge now.

I think the trick of the off-hook telephone is a valid one as it will send an alarm to the exchange and instigate a resynchronisation. That's ok for some problems. Not for mine wine though....

I know the equipment is much more resilient now than before even if some of the local line infrastructure is a bit fragile.

You do wonder how on earth you can download multi-megabit movies with a pair of mouldy crimped connections swinging in the breeze from a rotten pole.

I'll just have to come clean and ask for Orange to send me a new box and pay the cost.

That's scandalous in this day and age. The internet is not a luxury anymore.

I'm glad I left BT.....if it's their fault of course. Cool

My Live Box seems to have sobered up now.....but it makes a slight whining noise..... Laughing
